Index added webpages so search results include them
Currently search only returns product results, not content from added webpages. Can you add indexing for static webpages as well, so the search is truly sitewide?

UPDATE 2: In case someone is interested, we have a developer Wiki article which has some instructions and sample code to integrate Gold with Google search.

UPDATE 1: We are still looking into this request. Unfortunately, it didn’t make it into the last version. It will require significant changes to the search queries which are already very complex.

While google search is a great solution, it does cost money. Per year pricing is as follows:
queries/year cost
-------------------------
20,000 $100
50,000 $250
150,000 $750
500,000 $2,00020,000 queries is about 55/day, 500,000 queries is about 1400/day.
This is a great technical solution but it can be pricey. The upshot is you guys really need to implement a good site-wide search solution.

While this may have challenges to implement, think of what a search box on a website represents. There is a tacit assumption that when you use a search box, you are searching the whole site. If I'm a customer, I might want to search refund policy or any number of non-product questions which are clearly not a product or category but is something vital to a customer.

Katie, I figured out a workaround for this that has dual purpose. I had a custom display page made which is just a stripped down product page. We enter a product and only insert the non-ecommerce data. The page shows just the name, title description, Meta tags, custom url, related products, etc.. We have a separate category for these (resources) that is geared for permanent on-site content. You can browse the category tree here: http://www.ovisonline.com/Resources.aspx Also do a search for one of the articles and you'll see that all the content is indexed just like any other product.
